This video highlights Shorefront’s Intergenerational Interview Project
First Cohort | Evanston, Illinois
On a sunny Sunday in April 2024, the second-floor hallway of the old Foster School was alive with energy. Fifteen students sat with twelve Evanston residents, capturing their stories on audio and video for Shorefront's archives. Thanks to your support and that of the Field Foundation of Illinois, the journal you are about to read is a collection of their stories, voices and experiences. These stories offer fresh perspectives and reflect the wisdom passed from generation to generation-they are the stories of their elders filtered through the lens of youth.
This is just the beginning. We plan to continue this vital work, and we hope you will consider supporting Shorefront Legacy Center's mission to preserve, protect, and share the history of Black communities on the North Shore. Together, we're poised to make a profound contribution to the nation's confrontation with and repair of racialized harm.
