Walter Calhoun was a Kenilworth, IL resident. His mother, Lillian Calhoun was a journalist and had a column in the Daily Defender, “Confetti” and later for the Chicago Sun-Times. The Calhoun family was the first black family to live in Kenilworth Illinois, moving there in the 1960s. Kenilworth was a sundown town. As an adult, Walter later moved to Highland Park.
