Lawrence (Larry) Brooks (d.2004) was an Evanston resident, product of Foster School and Columbia College in Chicago. He majored in film and photography. His first independent documentary film was entitled “The Desegregation of Foster School”, produced in 1967 as the former Foster School became the location for an innovative educational program that attempted to address the segregated school system in Evanston. Brooks also worked with national broadcasting news stations and involved in several video production for live broadcast. During the 80s, he produced “Journey with Jazz”, a festival featuring many live performances on a cruise ship. Books also had a commercial photography business. His archives reside at the Shorefront Legacy Center.
